  15. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING SCREENS about configuration.
  16. When configuring options for the program, use F1 to obtain help
  17. and tips about set-up options.

  19. Daily Calendar starts in black and white to be sure you can read the
  20. configuration selections.  To change colors select OTHER - SET COLORS
  21. from the main menu screen.

  24. Daily Calendar requires DOS 3.3 or higher and about 410K of free memory.
  25. You must have a line in your CONFIG.SYS file that set files to
  26. an odd number of 41 or more.  The line should say FILES=41 (or more).
  27. You must also have a line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file that says
  28. SET CLIPPER=\\F41 (or more, to match the FILES= number in CONFIG.SYS).
  29. You should not include the Daily Calendar directory in your path.
  30. The program will now check the DOS version and files number
  31. and proceed with configuration.

  34. This program needs DOS 3.3 or higher for all
  35. its functions to work properly.  You have a
  36. version lower than 3.3 and you must upgrade
  37. to at least MS DOS 3.3.  DR-DOS and 4DOS work
  38. fine as well.

  42. CLIPPER=//F41 to have enough file handles
  43. for the program to operate.  You may SET

  99. If you have a laser printer than emulates the HP LaserJet II or III,
  100. choose the HP LaserJet *II/III (P/D) selection for advanced control
  101. of your printer.  If you have a printer than defaults or can be set
  102. to an Epson FX/MX/LQ mode, choose the Epson E/F/J/RX/LQ selection.
  103. For other printers, choose the closest selection.

  106. You will have advanced control of your HP LaserJet
  107. available whenever you print by pressing Alt L.  This will
  108. bring up a menu to allow you to reset lines per inch,
  109. characters per inch, portrait or landcape, manual feed and
  110. tray selection.  The default printing modes will stay in effect
  111. unless you press Alt L to change printing modes.

  114. The appointment calendar can be set for an hourly 24-hour calendar
  115. or an half-hourly 12-hour calendar for any 12 hour period in the day.
  116. This is a one-time choice during initial installation and cannot be
  117. changed later except by resetting the start time in the database
  118. utilities menu.

  120. :PORTCHECK
  121. These tests check to see if the program recognizes your printer and
  122. modem as they are connected to their respective ports.  Please see the
  123. documentation for a more detailed discussion of ports.  Before testing,
  124. be sure the device is connected and turned on.  Test results are
  125. meaningless if nothing is attached to the port or the device is not
  126. turnmed on.  Parallel ports (LPT1-4) are fairly straightforward, but
  127. serial ports (COM1-4) are not.  If you cannot make your printer or
  128. modem work, call the support number, (619)-435-2687 and we will help.
