:WELCOME1
Welcome to Daily Calendar!
This program should help you simplify your life by tracking
appointments, names and address and item to do.
Installation and configuration are simple and the program checks
your computer environment to see that all settings are correct.
I hope you enjoy the program, and if you have questions or problems,
please call for voice support at (619)-435-2687 and leave a message
or call the Daily Calendar Bulletin Board at (619)-435-0036.
:END
:WELCOME2
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING SCREENS about configuration.
When configuring options for the program, use F1 to obtain help
and tips about set-up options.
Daily Calendar starts in black and white to be sure you can read the
configuration selections. To change colors select OTHER - SET COLORS
from the main menu screen.
:END
:CONFIG1
Daily Calendar requires DOS 3.3 or higher and about 410K of free memory.
You must have a line in your CONFIG.SYS file that set files to
an odd number of 41 or more. The line should say FILES=41 (or more).
You must also have a line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file that says
SET CLIPPER=\\F41 (or more, to match the FILES= number in CONFIG.SYS).
You should not include the Daily Calendar directory in your path.
The program will now check the DOS version and files number
and proceed with configuration.
:END
:BADDOS
This program needs DOS 3.3 or higher for all
its functions to work properly. You have a
version lower than 3.3 and you must upgrade
to at least MS DOS 3.3. DR-DOS and 4DOS work
fine as well.
:END
:BADCLIP
You need to set the environment variable
CLIPPER=//F41 to have enough file handles
for the program to operate. You may SET
CLIPPER=//Fnn to any ODD number above 40.
See the documentation for more help.
:END
:NOCONFIG
It does not appear you have a CONFIG.SYS
file on your disk. You must have one with
the line FILES=41 (or higher) for the program
to operate. See the documentation for help.
:END
:NEEDFILES
Your CONFIG.SYS file must have the line
FILES=41 (or higher) for the program
to operate. See the documentation for help.
:END
:FIXNOW
Exiting to DOS now for you to fix
the problems noted. A file named
DAYFIX.TXT has been created to tell
you what to change.
:END
:PASSCFG
Even though environment problems have been noted, you can
override this check and run the program with your current
configuration. This option is provided for the few, rare
cases when the files number or environment setting is done
through some other process. This may be the case with some
networks or with some power users who have special, unusual
set-ups. DO NOT OVERRIDE THE ENVIRONMENT CHECK UNLESS YOU ARE
ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
:END
:OKCFG
Your environment settings are correct. Daily Calendar will now
start and you will be asked to set configuration options. You
can obtain help on the various options by pressing F1.
:END
:PLSREG
If you are not a registered user, please consider registering
Daily Calendar. If you obtained the program from a software
distribution service, you are not registered and have only
paid the service's distribution charge. For registration
information, please see the documentation. Thank you for
trying Daily Calendar.

:END
:NEWVER
It has been detected that you are upgrading from an earlier version
of Daily Calendar. All of your configuration options will be retained
EXCEPT your printer choice. PLEASE BE SURE TO RESELECT YOU PRINTER!
Note that advanced support is available for HP Laserjet printers. Other
new features are described in the READ1ST.DOC file on the distribution
disk. Support is available by voice message, (619)-435-2687 and by
Bulletin Board, (619)-435-0036.
Thank you for upgrading!
:END
:SELPRN
If you have a laser printer than emulates the HP LaserJet II or III,
choose the HP LaserJet *II/III (P/D) selection for advanced control
of your printer. If you have a printer than defaults or can be set
to an Epson FX/MX/LQ mode, choose the Epson E/F/J/RX/LQ selection.
For other printers, choose the closest selection.
:END
:HPLASER
You will have advanced control of your HP LaserJet
available whenever you print by pressing Alt L. This will
bring up a menu to allow you to reset lines per inch,
characters per inch, portrait or landcape, manual feed and
tray selection. The default printing modes will stay in effect
unless you press Alt L to change printing modes.
:END
:CAL1224
The appointment calendar can be set for an hourly 24-hour calendar
or an half-hourly 12-hour calendar for any 12 hour period in the day.
This is a one-time choice during initial installation and cannot be
changed later except by resetting the start time in the database
utilities menu.
:END
:PORTCHECK
These tests check to see if the program recognizes your printer and
modem as they are connected to their respective ports. Please see the
documentation for a more detailed discussion of ports. Before testing,
be sure the device is connected and turned on. Test results are
meaningless if nothing is attached to the port or the device is not
turnmed on. Parallel ports (LPT1-4) are fairly straightforward, but
serial ports (COM1-4) are not. If you cannot make your printer or
modem work, call the support number, (619)-435-2687 and we will help.
